How do I dispose of plasterboard in Cornwall?

Keep plasterboard separate and choose a disposal route that accepts it. Cornwall Council does not collect it with ordinary household rubbish or recycling. You can check its household DIY options or ask Empire for a private collection quote.

Keep board out of mixed rubbish

Describe the amount as whole sheets, offcuts or bags, and mention any attached insulation or tiles. Keep the board identifiable while you arrange disposal. Mixing it through a rubble pile makes it harder to assess and separate.

If you are taking your own DIY waste

Cornwall Council accepts plasterboard at some recycling centres, subject to its current conditions. Check the specific site, the applicable free allowance or charges, and any booking or vehicle requirements before travelling. The links below go to the council's current information rather than an out-of-date price copied onto this page.

If the waste comes from a business

Do not assume household DIY arrangements cover a trade job. Check the commercial route and acceptance rules with the relevant facility or book an appropriate private collection. Be clear about whether the waste is household DIY or generated through business work.

Booking Empire's collection

Send the approximate quantity, material details, photographs and your location. Explain the loading route and mention any other building waste separately. The quote is for your collection; council allowances and charges do not set the price of a private service.
