Furniture & single item collection in Cornwall

You do not need a whole house full of rubbish to ask for a collection. Empire takes enquiries for individual bulky items, including unwanted furniture and appliances, with suitability and access confirmed before booking.

One item, clearly described

Tell us exactly what needs to go: for example a sofa, fridge, old bath or piece of furniture. Include a photo and rough dimensions. Mention damage, loose parts and whether it is inside or outside. Electrical items should be identified as appliances, not hidden in a general-waste description.

Will it fit through the exit?

Measure the route if a large piece of furniture only just fitted when it arrived. Tell us about stairs, lifts, tight corners, garden steps and parking. If dismantling or disconnection is needed, discuss it first; neither should be assumed to be included.

Collection options for householders

A private collection is one option. Cornwall Council also operates a paid bulky-household-item service with item and preparation rules. If you compare services, check whether the quote covers access from where the item actually is and whether your item is accepted.

Questions about furniture & single item collection

Can you collect just one sofa?

Yes, single-item collection is offered. Send a photo of the sofa and describe the route out of the property.

Can you remove a fridge?

Fridges are listed on the existing site. Identify the appliance when enquiring so the team can confirm handling, access and the quote.

Do I have to put furniture on the pavement?

No. Keep it on your property and agree a suitable collection point. Do not obstruct the pavement or road.
